This 8-week Progressive Beginners Yoga with Donna Course is designed to safely build your strength, flexibility, and foundational yoga knowledge.
Each week, you will learn new poses and incorporate breathing techniques, gradually building towards a well-rounded practice you can take into any studio or home setting.
This beginner yoga course is designed to build foundational physical skills, introduce mindful breathing, and help new practitioners feel more confident on the mat.
🌿 Week 1: Introduction to the Mat & Breath
Focus: Body awareness and diaphragmatic breathing.
Key Poses: Mountain Pose (Tadasana), Child’s Pose (Balasana), and Cat-Cow (Marjaryasana-Bitilasana).
Goal: Learn how to ground yourself on the mat and use your breath to steady the mind.
🦶 Week 2: Grounding and Stability
Focus: Standing postures and leg strength.
Key Poses: Warrior I (Virabhadrasana I) and Warrior II (Virabhadrasana II).
Goal: Build stability in the feet and ankles while opening up the hips.
🌸 Week 3: Hip Openers & Balance
Focus: Improving balance and releasing tension in the hips and lower back.
Key Poses: Tree Pose (Vrksasana) and Low Lunge (Anjaneyasana).
Goal: Develop focus and stability while keeping the spine long.
🔥 Week 4: Twists & Core Strength
Focus: Core activation for support and safe twisting.
Key Poses: Plank Pose and Revolved Seated Twist (Ardha Matsyendrasana).
Goal: Safely introduce gentle twists while building core endurance.
☀️ Week 5: Introduction to Sun Salutations
Focus: Linking movement with breath through Vinyasa flow.
Key Poses: Downward-Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana) and Forward Fold (Uttanasana).
Goal: Break down the fundamental components of a Sun Salutation.
💛 Week 6: Backbends & Heart Openers
Focus: Counteracting desk posture and stretching the front of the body.
Key Poses: Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana) and Bridge Pose (Setu Bandhasana).
Goal: Safely build back strength and open the chest.
🌙 Week 7: Restorative Poses & Flexibility
Focus: Deep stretching and letting go of tension.
Key Poses: Happy Baby (Ananda Balasana) and Seated Forward Fold (Paschimottanasana).
Goal: Use longer holds to increase flexibility in the hamstrings and hips.
✨ Week 8: Putting It All Together
Focus: Full-body integration and relaxation.
Key Poses: A gentle, flowing sequence of your favourite poses from Weeks 1–7.
Goal: Finish with deep relaxation in Corpse Pose (Savasana) and celebrate the completion of your first course.
